Graphic Design Worlds is the first serious overview show about graphic design in Italy. The largest design museum in Italy, a lot of well known names involved, many different ‘flavours’ or point of view on what graphic design can or should be.
The ‘ink fish’ advertises some essential ‘tools of the trade’, like the versatile paletknife used for mixing inks, plus some of my personal values in life and work, things I wanted to address in my Graphic Design Worlds installation.
In this context it also refers to the 1984 miniseries about Corrado Cattani, a police inspector whose life is devoted to fighting the Italian mafia, known there as La Piovra (The Octopus).
This print is an adaptation of Gotta Be, a poster made in 2008 for the outdoor exhibition at the Graphic Design Festival Breda 2010, themed ‘decoding’.
